My dog, PetCareRX and my Weekend

This is only one in the sea of sad stories about my work-swamped life

Last week, after work, I took my dog out for a walk. There’s a nice park, about 15 minutes from where I live. It is very near, but I never have enough time to take him there, so I decided to steal some time from late-evening-checking-e-mails. We took a walk and it was really nice, but as soon as tomorrow, my dog started scratching.

Of course, the next thing that happened is that I found a couple of fleas. I was really upset, but too busy to get some frontline from the store, so I just postponed it for the weekend. Then, on Saturday, I got too busy with some documents I had to translate, and I couldn’t quite manage to do that during the working hours in the office.

On Sunday, I went shopping, and I totally forgot to buy frontline. ‘Okay’, I thought, ‘that’s it; if I don’t do anything right now, the flees are going to eat my dog’. So I sat down, opened turned on the computer and googled ‘frontline’, searching for an on-line pet store. I found a store called PetCareRX, and it looked good, quite clearly divided in sectors for cats and dogs, and then, in sectors for different kinds of medications. So I easily found frontline and ordered it on-line.

Knowing myself and how much (read - little) time I have, I was thinking about ordering a 12 months supply, but at the end, I didn’t. I just bookmarked the PetCareRX website, because, of course, however much I liked it, I guess I would forget about it in the next 6 months. I really liked the fact that they provide free shipping for spending over 35 bucks, and I also liked the price of the medication. ‘OK’, I thought, ‘since I’m already doing this, I could order some more things I need for the dog, so I’ll just sort it out and I don’t have to worry for the rest of the month’. And that’s what basically happened.

I spent the most of my Sunday afternoon surfing PetCareRX website, calculating the differences of the prices from this store and the store where I usually buy, and adding things to my shopping cart, after which I concluded that they were more cost-effective.  Fortunately, or unfortunately, most of the things I wanted, were cheaper, so I bought some dog food, food supplements, but also some toys, because he has already chewed his old ones. I spent a half an hour choosing the collar. That’s This is what happens when you don’t shop that often. The activity itself somehow mesmerizes you. And then, since this website also have has the a sector for fishes, and I was also thinking about buying an aquarium, I bought a couple of books about it.

I didn’t buy the aquarium, though. Luckily, I didn’t think about it, because then I would really spend the whole day surfing PetCareRX. In this way, I still had an evening to walk my dog, trying not to get too close to him until they deliver frontline to me.
